The Lincoln Hospital Emergency Medicine Residency is an unparalleled opportunity to train at one of the busiest and most dynamic emergency departments in the nation - it is a program that is as rich in history as it is in clinical excellence. Originating in 1989, this program builds upon a rich legacy dating back to 1839, a tradition rooted in serving the diverse and medically underserved communities of the Bronx and beyond. As the busiest public hospital in New York City, one of the top 10 busiest emergency departments in the United States & a Level 1 Trauma Center, overseeing more than 140,000 patients annually - Lincoln providers a high-volume, high-acuity environment where residents gain invaluable hands-on experience in both EM & Trauma.

Our program offers comprehensive training in a fast-paced, resource-limited setting, giving residents exposure to a wide range of emergency medical conditions, from complex trauma to rare and unusual cases. The hospital’s mission to deliver excellent, patient-centered, and culturally competent care is at the heart of everything we do. Residents learn to navigate the intricacies of urban emergency medicine whilst learning to navigate the social determinants of health that affect so many of our patients.
